On October 2018, A beach clean up with Global AFR Founder David Hooper and Singapore Paddle Club took place on Sentosa Island, Singapore
David joined 22 other members of Singapore Paddle Club who used outrigger canoes to paddle 5km out to a small Island off Sentosa. In total around 50 large sacks of rubbish from 2 beaches were picked up during the clean up. They were joined by a motorised boat who took the sacks of rubbish to a skip provided by the Singaporean Government on the main Island.
This is planned to be repeated on a regular basis to a different remote beach. In addition, the Club of which David is an active member have a policy of picking up any plastic bags or bottles that are floating in the sea when out training. On almost all paddles at least 1 or 2 items are picked up showing just how much plastic there is in our oceans.
