Sustainable energy sourced from waste.
Energy from Waste technologies, whilst emerging in Australia, have been used in Japan, US, Europe and the UK for many years. The waste strategies of Australian States recognise the need for treatment of residual waste, from which higher order value is not available, using energy from waste technology to achieve landfill diversion targets.
QEW Solutions has identified EfW equipment that is appropriate for small to medium size applications well suited to regional towns and cities, and compliant with worlds best practice in terms of efficiency and emissions control.
The key stages within an EfW facility are:
- Pre-processing of the waste to recover recyclable materials and prepare RDF as appropriate
- Combustion of the RDF and selected waste to produce high quality steam
- High-quality steam that drives turbines to generate electricity and which can also be distributed as steam, hot water, or cooling
- Air flow recovery, treatment, and cleaning to the latest EU BREF standards
